Summary:
1/ In taking the French Audiovisual Research Archive (ARA) Program and its different audiovisual web portals as a reference model, discussion of the main challenges that digital libraries are facing with respect to:
a multilingual and multicultural knowledge market;
a huge diversity of user profils and contexts of uses of digital knowledge resources.

2/ Presentation and discussion of a typical work flow in the production, diffusion and preservation of digital resources.

3/ Introduction to the semiotic and cognitive processing of digital audiovisual source documents in order to attune them to specific user expectations and/or contexts of uses.

4/ Practical on online audiovisual resources in semiotics available on the web portal "Semiotica - Cultura - Comunicazione".
